The Technological Air Pole in Forlė has its roots in the technical-scientific culture and productivity which have so affected local life from the 20s-30s. ITIS, Airport, Aeronautical School and the Caproni body-shops in Predappio are to show the strong interest which has been unique from the start due to the combination between educational and training activities with research and production.
In the 90s, the increase of university bases in Romagna, with the decentralization of degree courses in Airspace Engineering have created a base for the new Technological Pole in Forlė thanks to the combination with the new headquarters of the Technical Airspace Institute at the Airport, the expansion plans of SEAF, the location in Forlė of the new ENAV National Training Centre and the new PRG of Forlė Municipality which has redesigned the urban order of the airport's relevant space.
Its aim is to be a project for territorial development with an end to integrate the airport's tasks with university activities and higher education, research activities, experimentation, an offer for advanced services, incubator, site for the promotion of tourism and for the Apennine as well as green portion of the Region: sport, snow, parks, wine-gastronomy, mansions and castles, excursions, etc. companies and home to innovative companies, which, through time, have grown a very particular prestige with a significant meaning for the economy and productivity of Forlė area at a regional as well as national level.
